Bunch of hype going around that this will be the new all time master pvp chara, but I find that hard to believe

I'm sure it's going to depend on one's play style. This profession, in terms of killing others sounds like a jump in and jump out character. A potential Kill Stealer. xD ...otherwise this Guardian won't be staying up in the front lines as much as a warrior.
